Followers of this blog may have read about the last time I saw CL live, but read over it if you don't recall. Presumably, if you read this, you trust or value my opinion in some way. That said, I'm asking you to seriously think about investing $15 to see these guys live at the WorkPlay Theater in Birmingham on Friday night.
The show is set to start at 9, but Carbon Leaf goes on second, around 9:45 according to the schedule. I was not consulted about the decision to have some band called Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers go on after Carbon Leaf. I've never heard of them, but they have a song that's featured on a recent episode of 'One Tree Hill', so I guess that trumps the Leaf's accomplishments so far. I guess.
But whatever. I won't let co-headliner status with some flavor-of-the-month nobody dampen my enthusiasm for the show. The first time I saw the Leaf, they were opening up for Jump, Little Children, and they've played the opening act card before and played it well.
Finally, I'll leave you with my updated Top 10 list of all-time favorite Carbon Leaf songs (Miss Hollywood has now cracked my Top 10). If all my rambling can't convince you that this show will be worth checking out, maybe the music can.
So, if you're able, come on out Friday night. I'll be there, and the combination of Dennis and Carbon Leaf should be too much for any mere mortal to resist. You won't regret it, I promise.
