That's one small step for me... one giant leap for my condo.
That's right, the first of many home improvement projects on my new condo is complete: my bathtub no longer looks like this:
But instead, just $295 later, looks like this:
It's true, the only heavy lifting I did for this project was reaching for the checkbook, but it gives me a sense of accomplishment nonetheless.
I hired the project out to The Bathtub Man of Alabama, a service I would recommend to others. I called him after work on Monday afternoon and he was at my condo at 9:30 the next morning, finished by 1 p.m. He claims to have been in the bathtub business for more than 30 years, and said he had done a tub in my building around 25 years ago.
So one thing is successfully marked off my condo to-do list. Next up, a thorough top-to-bottom cleaning of the joint and prep work for repainting. I'm not looking forward to that aspect of the job, but it definitely needs doing. I just have to remind myself that I wanted to buy a condo in a building constructed in 1930. I signed up to do this work. Now it's time to put the elbow grease where my money is.
Also, for those keeping up, the second installment of my trip to Italy is almost done and should be online Wednesday or Thursday. I'm pledging to do at least one installment per week until the entire trip is recorded in such meticulous detail that no one will ever want to read it. Here's Part 1, in case you missed it.
